Revised Testing for Comprehensive Evaluation
The structure of the HGV driving test has been updated to ensure a thorough assessment of each driver’s skills. The test is now divided into two parts:
- 3a – Reverse and Coupling/Uncoupling: This section tests the driver’s ability to manage the vehicle in reverse and perform coupling and uncoupling tasks, which are crucial for real-world driving scenarios.
- 3b – On-Road Assessment: This part of the test evaluates the driver’s ability to safely and effectively navigate the vehicle on public roads, assessing everything from vehicle control to situational awareness.
